NATO DIANA features STARNAV
NATO DIANA looks back at STARNAV’s progress since joining its 2025 cohort: partnership with Naval Group, MAGELLAN AERO trials and next steps.

NATO DIANA, NATO’s defence innovation accelerator, published an article about STARNAV on 26 October 2026: “Navigating by the sun and stars: STARNAV takes next steps towards adoption”.
Since joining the DIANA 2025 cohort
The article traces STARNAV’s progress since its selection for the 2025 cohort of the DIANA programme, during which the team was hosted at the Brainport accelerator site in Eindhoven. Georges Lamy au Rousseau, CEO of STARNAV, looks back on the company’s founding goal: adapting star-based navigation, until then reserved for satellites, to ships and aircraft.
This year’s milestones
- The partnership with Naval Group to integrate MAGELLAN into the ships it designs, with sea trials planned with the French Navy from 2027.
- The MAGELLAN AERO evaluation campaign: six flights, by day and by night, with the French Air and Space Force and the French Navy.
- Contacts made through DIANA, notably with the Royal Netherlands Navy, and new opportunities with civilian maritime operators.
