A performance evaluation campaign for MAGELLAN AERO was conducted from June 2 to 10, 2026. A DGA team was present alongside personnel from the Air and Space Force and the Navy. A sequence of 6 successive flights was carried out, during day, night, and transition phases.
The evaluation took place in varied environments, experiencing very cold temperatures (the team remembers the wind in Iqaluit) and very hot ones. The STARNAV team's responsiveness was appreciated for implementing certain fixes despite the constraints of time zone differences and weekend flights.
The experimentation made it possible to precisely measure the various parameters impacting the system's performance. The campaign made it possible to push the system's limits, demonstrating the relevance of diurnal recalibration on one hand and nocturnal recalibration on the other.
STARNAV thanks all participants again for their professionalism and enthusiasm. MAGELLAN AERO has thus taken a big step forward by being tested in real operational conditions.
